CS#4 Team visits Menorca Follower Pilot and presents NATALIE at Water Resources Conference

C4

On February 4th, the Case Study CS#4 team gathered on the island of Menorca, where the work of the Follower in the Balearic Islands is being developed. The Canary Islands demo site visited the location to observe the progress made and the synergies established between the demo and the follower, part of the team remained on the stand from February 5th to7th to attend the congress entitled “XXXIX Trobades Científiques de la Mediterrània”, where the NATALIE study was presented.

The main objective of the visit was to explore the Golf Course in Menorca where the Follower intervention will take place. The plan is to use some of the natural ponds that form within the Golf Course to monitor them and attempt to naturally recharge the aquifer through this process.

This visit was a valuable opportunity to strengthen connections and allow the Canary Island partners to meet local stakeholders. The group was welcomed at the local treatment plant by the facility managers, and was joined by several representatives from Mallorca involved in water management in the Balearic Islands.

Such visits are essential to demonstrate the Demo site's support for the Follower, to foster progress and ensuring that everyone is aligned in the process.

Later, academic partners such as the University of La Laguna (ULL) and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) remained on the island for three additional days to attend the Trobades Científiques de la Mediterrània Congress. During the event, the NATALIE project was presented, encouraging academic and scientific discussion on the topic.
