On February 4th, the Case Study CS#4 team from the Canary Islands gathered on the island of Menorca, where the Follower site in the Balearic Islands is currently under development. This visit aimed to assess the progress of the Follower activities and strengthen the synergies between the Demo and Follower sites as part of the NATALIE project.
The focal point of the visit was the Golf Course in Menorca, where the Follower intervention is planned. The concept involves leveraging natural ponds that form within the course to monitor water quality and support aquifer recharge, using nature-based approaches.
This field visit was also a key opportunity for Canary Islands partners to connect with local stakeholders. The team was welcomed at the local wastewater treatment plant by facility managers and joined by representatives from Mallorca involved in water management throughout the Balearic Islands.
Such visits are essential to demonstrate active support from the Demo site to the Follower, ensuring close collaboration, knowledge exchange, and alignment of efforts for climate-resilient water solutions.
